What is the Socialist People’s Party (SF)?
SF is a Danish Socialist party which unites red and green perspectives with a democratic outlook. It was founded in 1959 and has constantly fought to defend human rights, politically and socially, and to pave the road to democratic-Socialist changes, this both in Denmark and abroad.
SF strives to establish Socialist changes in society to secure more economic, social and political equality and justice, and to create an alternative to neo-liberalism and a world dominated by capital. SF is convinced that another world is possible – a world of equality and sustainable environment.
SF has 23 members in the Danish Parliament, Folketinget, (179 in all) and one member in the European Parliament. The party is well represented in local town councils and regional councils. At the elections in October 2007, SF nearly doubled its number of votes from a little less than 250.000 in 2005 to more than 450.000, meaning a growth from 6 % (11 members in Parliament) of the votes to 13 % (23 members in Parliament).
